Caol Ila 12YO 2010 (SMOS) Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml (ABV59%)

Introduction

Elixir Distillers is an independent bottler that released The Single Malts of Scotland range in 2002. This range consists of vintage single malt Scotch whiskies selected for their individual quality and character. Along with the classic single cask collection, the range includes the Director’s Special series personally selected by Sukhinder Singh, as well as two small-batch collections: the accessible Reserve Casks and the more mature Marriage of Casks.

This single malt was distilled at Caol Ila distillery in 2010 and aged for more than 12 years in a single hogshead, yielding a total of 269 bottles.

Nose – Honey roasted, smoked cashew nuts are mixed with chunks of caramelised white chocolate. Brown sugar is flavoured with vanilla and cinnamon. Peat chimney smoke sits in the background.

Palate – Roasted orange slices are sprinkled with dark, caramelised muscovado sugar before serving alongside a crisp topped crme brle. Smoke wafts in at the end.

Finish – Cinnamon spice and hard, caramelised sugar shards linger on.
