Cambus 1991 30YO Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml (SV)(ABV51%)

Introduction

In 1806 the Cambus distillery was founded and produced mainly produced grain whisky. Cambus is a village near Alloa 4 miles east of Stirling. It sits on the River Devon. In 1913 it was destroyed by a fire which forced it to close until 1938. Most of the spirit from this distillery was used in blends. It was closed in 1993 but the spirit still remains being bottled by mainly independent bottlers.

This single grain whisky was distilled in 1991 at the Cambus Distillery before being placed in a refill Butt and left to mature for no less than 30 years. It was bottled in 2022 at 51.5% ABV as part of the Signatory Vintage Cask Strength Collection.

Only 258 Bottles Release.

Signatory Vintage are an independent bottler founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington. The name Signatory was derived from the initial intention to find a person of suitable standing to sign the labels for bottles drawn from a single cask. The first cask bottled was a 1968 Glenlivet which quickly sold through long before any suitable signee could be found.

Signatory currently bottle at three strengths: 43%, 46% Unchillfiltered (UCF) and Cask Strength. To add proof of authenticity to their cask strength bottlings, Signatory always include the cask numbers, date of distillation, date of bottling and number of bottles produced.

Nose – Fresh vanilla jam cakes, butter and gingerbread.

Palate – Dried fruits and chocolate, vanilla cake with butterscotch cream and a hint of pepper.

Finish – Buttered Scones and vanila bean.
